Pet Watch

Grey - Bruce
Area

We have establish a Pet Watch program for the Grey-Bruce area that will help reunite lost pets with their owners. Please tell everyone you know about this program. The more people who know about this Pet Watch program, and the more people who participate, the more successful we will be.

In a perfect world, no pets would be out on their own, roaming the neighborhood. But unfortunately, some dogs and cats will escape or are allowed to roam the neighborhood unsupervised. Some have regular routes and routines and know their way home, but others get lost and need help.

If your pet should ever become lost, you will quickly learn that there will be very few people looking for your pet, besides you. Also, when your pet is missing, time is very critical. It is important to begin your search immediately while your pet may still be in the area. Pets can travel a great distances in a short period of time. Forming an internet-based group of people who will look out for each other’s lost pets is a valuable resource.

For over 10 years, we have been helping people find their lost pets. We provide information on how to look for a lost pet, and we have physically searched for lost pets. The first thing we will tell anyone is to get the word out that your pet is missing. The more people that know your pet is missing the better chance you will have of finding him/her.

People generally take no action when they see a stray dog or cat, thinking it must live in the area and will return home on its own. But the longer that animal is on the street, the greater the chance of it being hit by a car or causing a terrible traffic accident.  Being in the country, strays also have a greater change of being attacked by other wildlife. Our goal is to see every lost pet returned home safely.

How it Works

Registration is FREE

You must live in the Grey-Bruce area.

You do not have to be a pet owner to register. All you need is the willingness to help.

When we receive a lost pet report, we will email all registered members in the area a “Pet Watch Alert” email with details of that lost pet. All we ask is that you be on the look out & help spread the word about the lost pet. If you see the lost pet, let us know.

If you see a stray animal roaming the neighbourhood, contact us with the information. We will do what we can to find the owner. Sometimes a person will loses a pet but may not be able to go out and physically do a search. This is where a “Stray in the Neighbourhood” report can help.

** You are not being asked to restrain, capture, or take in any animals. Just Report it. **

PLEASE, sign up and tell your friends. The more people we have receiving “Pet Watch Alerts” the more effective this program will be.

If you would like further information on this program please email us and we will be happy to answer your questions.

We are not a shelter. We do not take in animals. We are volunteers that are offering a pet recovery service to the Grey Bruce area. Our membership will consist of compassionate people who are committed to seeing every lost animal safely retuned home.
