Pet Food Bank
Due to financial hardships because of the poor economy, we have been made aware of an increase in owners surrendering their pets to a shelter, or abandoning them due to temporary financial difficulties.
We are in the very beginning stages of starting a pet food donation program to supply a food bank for pets. We are hoping that in some cases being able to provide pet food to people in need will help them to be able to keep their pet and not surrender them to a shelter.
Many needy families in our community are pet owners who love their pets but are having difficult time providing food for both their families and their animals. This new program reduces the risk of families being forced to give up their beloved pets because they can’t afford to feed them.
People experiencing economic difficulties, especially those with no close family, are particularly in need of their pet’s unconditional love and companionship.
This program relies SOLELY on donations from our generous community.
All types of pet foods are needed. Dog, cat, puppy, and kitten. Dry and canned foods are needed. We will be distributing this food back to the public, so we can not accept opened food containers. Below is a list of items needed in order to help as many families as possible:
Please
contact us
for more information on how to donate items or volunteer, so we
may help as many people keep their pets as possible. If you would like to make a monetary donation or if your are a business that would like to donate or become involved as a drop off point please contact us.
If you are in need of food for your pets, we ask that you contact us to sign up on our temporary help list. Once we receive your email we will send you an application so we can determine if you're eligible for assistance.
The availably of pet food supplies will depend on the amount of donations we receive.
As soon as we have additional information about a food bank partner to help with distribution, we will have that information available on this webpage.
